How To Reach Tosh?

By Road – Road is the most convenient and cheapest way to reach Tosh. First, take a bus from Delhi (ISBT) to Manali and get down at Bhuntar which is located just 50 KM before Manali. The bus from Delhi to Manali can cost you from INR 700 to 1500 depending on the bus type. The way to Manali from Delhi is very scenic, you’ll enjoy the beautiful mountain peaks, lush greenery, waterfalls, river and temple from the window of bus. It will take around 11 to 14 hours to reach Bhuntar from Delhi. From Bhuntar you’ll find the HRTC bus going to Barshaini, from there you’ll need to take a very short yet beautiful trek to reach Tosh. Instead of trek, you can also take the shared cab that can cost 100 INR.

  • Route – Delhi -> Bhuntar -> Barshaini via Manikaran Road -> 5 KM trek -> Tosh

By Flight – Tosh doesn’t have any airport, Bhuntar has the nearest airport located 51 KM from Tosh. Bhuntar airport is well connected to most of the major parts of India. After reaching Bhuntar follow the above-mentioned route.

By Train – Tosh doesn’t have any railway station. Joginder Nagar has the nearest railway station located 145 KM from Tosh. After reaching Joginder Nagar Railway station you’ll need to take a bus or private cab to Barshaini.

Trek to Kutla Village

3 Km uphill from Tosh, Kutla is a small village located at an altitude of 9186 meters above sea level. This village is still untouched away from the buildings of concrete like Tosh & Kasol. There you won’t get fancy food and stay but views here from here are more than 10 stars.

Kutla is filled up with lush greenery, adventurous waterfalls, and amazing views of snow-capped mountains. The tranquil surroundings make you feel like the glaciers are just a stone’s throw away from you. The icy cold water that is melted from glaciers feels so pure and majestic.

How to reach – Kutla is located an hour away from Tosh. To reach up there you need to take an hour-long trek that traverses through lots of small waterfalls, streams from the Tosh river, and beautiful views of snow-clad mountains. There are no signboards so ask locals and shop owners to check whether you’re on right track on or not.

Kheerganga Trek

Kheerganga is one of the most scenic and famous trekking destinations of Parvati Valley. Situated at an altitude of 2950 meters, Kheerganga gets its name from its milky Ganga water that looks as white as Kheer (the Indian sweet dish). Kheerganga is famous for its splendid views and natural hot water spring where you can take warm bath.

Best time to visit – March to June is the best time to visit Kheerganga when the weather becomes pleasant with clear blue sky. It is the best time for camping.

How to reach – The distance of Kheerganga treks is about 15 KM that takes around 3 to 4 hours of time for one side. The trek is easy to moderate and perfect for beginners as well.

Kheerganga is a famous trek and you’ll get lots of signboards, fellow travelers and locals during the trek to ask the route. And if you’re lucky enough you can also get a Himachali dog as a local guide.

The trek starts after Barshaini, walks via bridge takes a left turn and reach Nakthan Village. The Nakthan village is situated on the left side of the Parvati river and is well marked with signboards. The whole trek traverse through the forest of pine, waterfalls, amazing view of Parvati valley and snow capped mountain. Rudra waterfall, Shiva temple and pine trees are some of the most interesting spots you’ll get to see on the trekking route to Kheerganga.

Tosh Temple

Situated in the center of village, Tosh temple is a wooden temple dedicated to Rishi Jumdagni the father of Lord Parshurama. The name of Rishi Jumdagni is mentioned in the Hindu epic Ramayana and he is one of the Saptarishi. This temple has huge religious significance among locals.

Kalga Village

Malana – Situated at an altitude of 9,938 feet, Malana is one of the oldest villages in India. Malana is located around 40 Km from Tosh and a 4 KM trek from the Jari village. This village is famous for its rustic charm, the picturesque sunrise & sunset, and traditional Himachali culture.

Kalga Village – Kalga is a hidden village in Parvati valley that is famous for apple orchards and old-styled stoned houses. Kalga is located just 20 to 30 minutes away from the Barshaini.

Pulga Village – After exploring Kalga you can head towards another scenic village of Parvati Valley, Pulga. There you’ll get number of cheaper homestays and cafes. Don’t expect the fancy food and stay but the views from here are enough to attract backpackers.

Tulga Village – Tulga is the most hidden and tranquil village out of all three villages Malana, Kalga and Pulga. A stream divides it from the Kalga and adds the natural charm to the beauty of this village. The views of the surrounding hills are amazing. It is a perfect place for walking freely and capturing amazing instagrammable pictures.

All three villages Kalga, Pulga and Tulga are accessible by foot from Barshaini.

Visit Manikaran Sahib

Located on the bank of the Parvati River, Manikaran Sahib is one of the most sacred places in Parvati valley. Every year thousands of pilgrims visit this place. The main attraction of this temple is natural hot water springs where you can take bath. There are separate sections made for men and women.
